In the last three seasons, Eielson head football coach David DeVaughn has led his team to two Alaska Small Schools State Championship games and a record of 25-4. DeVaugh's service on-and-off the field hasn't gone unnoticed. Monday DeVaughn was selected as the Champions Award winner for the state of Alaska by USA Football.
The Champions Award, which was inaugurated last year, recognizes the thousands of coaches, volunteers and administrators whose contributions enable millions of boys and girls to participate in the sport of football each year.
