by Jeff Fisher
Alaska High School Football Huddle
While most of America is kicking-off the 2009 high school football season, the state of Alaska reached the half-way point last night. Colony continues to show that it's deserving of the #1 Big Schools ranking. Colony beat three-time Small Schools champ Soldotna 24-17 to move to 4-0 on the season. The Anchorage Daily News reports that the win avenged last year's 40-16 loss to the Stars.
In Small Schools, top-ranked Kenai smashed Seward 69-0. For the season, the Cards have outscored their opponents 228-0

Alaska HIgh School Football Scoreboard - Week 2
by Jeff Fisher
Alaska High school Football Huddle
Service's 49-3 Saturday night win over Dimond may have been just as exciting as the Cougars Big Schools championship last season. That's because the Anchorage Daily News reports that assistant coach Fenumiai "Numi" Italio, Jr. was back roaming the sidelines after returning from his tour of duty in Afghanistan with the Alaska Army National Guard.
This is a great story about a coach that has touched a team and a community.
