Hard to believe, but the post-season is here in high school football!
2005 Big Schools state champ Juneau-Douglas is back to defend its title. On Saturday Juneau (5-3) will take on Palmer in the quarterfinals. Juneau beat Palmer 49-29 in the Big Schools title game last year.
Here are the Big School Quarterfinal Match-ups:
Friday
Chugiak vs. Anchorage East
West Valley vs. Colony
Saturday
Juneau-Douglas vs. Palmer
Bartlett vs. Anchorage South
South finished the season as the only undefeated team in the state, and was voted #1 in the final Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network's Big Schools' High School Football Poll. South garned all eleven first place votes. Below is the final Large Schools Poll:

On the Small School side of things, four-time state champ Kenai will not be back to defend its 2005 title thanks to a 52-6 loss to Soldatna, which ended the season as the #1 team in the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network's Small Schools High School Football Poll.
